Rockwall doctor suspended for throwing child, having manic episodes

A Rockwall doctor has been temporarily suspended after officials say he suffered manic episodes, sexually harassed staff, and even throwing a toddler.

A Rockwall doctor has been temporarily suspended after officials say he suffered manic episodes, sexually harassed staff, and even accidentally threw a toddler.

Dr. Kurt Loring Pflieger is also accused of prescribing medicine for no apparent reason, giving blank prescription pads to patients, and yelling "Satan!" during one patient's visit.

In February, official documents say he was "rough housing with a 2-year-old sibling of a patient, attempted to throw the child onto his shoulder, but 'overshot' causing the child to fall, land on his back and strike his head on the exam room floor."

His co-workers also reported that he had been showing up to work "disheveled" in the same clothes he wore the day before, or even pajamas. He would also sometimes cry at work, the documents read.

Pflieger has worked as a doctor for 20 years, with 14 being in Texas. He was suspended on Friday from his primary practice at Rockwall Pediatrics.

The Texas Medical Board concluded that he "would constitute a continuing threat to the public welfare" until he goes through a remedial plan set up for him.
