Republican nominee Donald Trump has regularly said over the last week the upcoming election is "rigged by a dishonest and corrupt media" supporting Hillary Clinton.

Don't tell that to the Waxahachie Daily Light. The Ellis County newspaper, with a circulation of 3500, became just the third newspaper in the country this week and the first in Texas to endorse the GOP nominee.

Publisher Scott Brooks said in an interview Wednesday the endorsement reflects the readership in what he calls a strongly conservative North Texas community.

"The idea that Trump is getting hit from all sides - from the right, from the left, is probably a pretty good indication that both of those sides are concerned about how much uprooting he might do," Brooks said.

The Daily Light joins papers in Santa Barbara, California and St. Joseph, Missouri as the only daily papers to back the real estate mogul and reality television star.

Endorsements of Trump's candidacy have been exceedingly rare in this campaign. Papers that historically have backed Republican candidates, like the Houston Chronicle and The Dallas Morning News, have instead endorsed Democrat Hillary Clinton.
