DALLAS -- Two people were killed after they were hit by a SUV on an exit ramp of Interstate 635 early Thursday morning.

Police tell WFAA that at 1:35 a.m., the driver of a Toyota Camry was having issues so he pulled over near the exit to Coit Road.

Both people inside the car got out to inspect and were working on the front of the car. Police say a driver swerved to not hit them, and the Chevy Blazer right behind didn't have enough time to take action before hitting the men and the Camry.

One of the victims has been identified as Hector Rodriguez, 35. The second victim hasn't been identified.

I-635 was closed for a short time while police investigated, but the interstate has since reopened.

Charges aren't expected to be filed against the driver of the Blazer.
