EVERMAN, Texas -- An officer-involved shooting is under investigation Thursday night.

At about 8 p.m., officers were patrolling the 1900 block of Everman Parkway when they saw a white sedan speeding without any lights on, according to Everman police.

Police tried pulling the driver over, but the vehicle immediately pulled into a nearby Fort Worth apartment complex, lost control and ended up facing the officer’s vehicle.

When the officer got out of the vehicle, the driver, identified as 21-year-old Robert Jarvis Petite, drove

at the officer, police said. That's when the officer fired shots, hitting Petite. Petite and a passenger were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Petite, faces a charge aggravated assault on a public servant and evading arrest, police said.

The Fort Worth Police Department Major Case Unit is investigating this incident.

The officer, a 9-year law enforcement veteran, is currently on paid administrative leave, which is department policy.

Once the investigation is complete, the case heads to the Tarrant County Grand Jury for review.
