ARLINGTON -- Police say a 15-year-old Martin High School student was taken to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle while walking to school.

Arlington police say the student was hit by an SUV near the intersection of Park Springs Boulevard and Pleasant Ridge Road, near Martin High School, at about 7 a.m.

<p>An Arlington Martin High School student was hit by a car Wednesday morning near the school.</p>

The Star-Telegram reports the teen was walking in the crosswalk when he was hit. He was taken by helicopter to the hospital and has 'life-threatening injuries."

The driver who hit the teen stopped, and damage could be seen on one side of the SUV. The driver was arrested on charges not related to the accident, police said.

The teen hasn't been identified. Police are investigating who had the right-of-way, the Star-Telegram reports.
