Midlothian police said they were called to a home Saturday afternoon for a reported domestic disturbance which eventually ended in an officer-involved shooting.

Officers did not give details on the disturbance but said when they arrived a man was standing outside of the home with a gun. In a release, Midlothian police said officers told the man to drop the gun but he refused. They said the man turned towards officers and presented a threat and that is when the man was shot by police.

Midlothian police said EMS was already on scene and quickly took the man to a nearby hospital. Police have not released any information on his condition.

A Rangers investigation is underway into the officer-involved shooting, which is standard procedure.
