Firefighters control fire at gift shop of Fort Worth Zoo

The fire started from an unknown cause in a gift shop near the front of the zoo.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Firefighters quickly contained a fire that broke out at a gift shop of the Fort Worth Zoo Thursday night.

Fort Worth Fire said it took about 45 minutes to control it. They were called to the scene at 1989 Colonial Parkway at about 8 p.m. after on-site security noticed the fire.

The fire started from an unknown cause in a gift shop near the front of the zoo. The fire consumed about 1500 square feet, but it was quickly contained. No animals were harmed any animal exhibits were affected, the zoo said.

The zoo was closed Thursday for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
