DALLAS -- A fatal hit-and-run rollover crash in Dallas killed a woman and closed part of Interstate 30 early Friday morning.

The Dallas County Sheriff's Office tells WFAA that at about 12:30 a.m. Friday, a woman was speeding on eastbound I-30 near Cesar Chavez when she rear-ended a Nissan Altima.

The 40-year-old female driver of the Altima lost control and the vehicle rolled over into a grassy area between the HOV lane and I-30 before crashing into an overhead sign.

The unidentified woman died from her injuries at the scene.

The 19-year-old female driver of the other vehicle, identified as a Dodge Charger, got out of her car and ran away on foot. Deputies used her license plate number to track down her address and found her at home. She confessed to the crash and was arrested.

I-30 was closed for a short while, but has since reopened. The ramps to I-45 were closed while crews took down the sign. They have since reopened.
