GARLAND -- A former special needs teacher from Garland ISD pleaded guilty to one count of transportation of child pornography.
Kirk Patrick Keshler, 60, was arrested on Aug. 16, after a detective found "numerous files for child pornography on his computer, which was seized," police said.
Videos depicting child pornography were found on a laptop taken from Keshler's home. Police believe he had been accessing the videos when police showed up.
Heshler bonded out after paying $15,000. A grand jury indicted him on five counts of child porn on Sept. 26.
Keshler faces a maximum penalty of not less than five, nor more than 20 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine and a lifetime of supervised release. He will remain in custody pending sentencing which is set for April 4, 2018.
Documents released to WFAA say according to the plea agreement, Keshler taught at Garland High School, used the internet and a peer-to-peer file-sharing account to send and receive visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
A forensic review of the seized laptop revealed over 10,000 images and 3,000 videos involving toddler aged children to early and pubescent teens both males and females engaged in sexual activity with adults and with other children, according to the documents.
Some of the child pornography files also depict sadistic and masochistic content and bestiality. Additionally officers seized several pairs of female children's panties in various child sizes.
