Denton County patrol sergeant arrested for online solicitation of minor

A Denton County Sheriff's Office patrol sergeant has been fired from his job after he was charged with online solicitation of a minor.

A patrol sergeant with the Denton County Sheriff's Office has been fired from his job after he was charged with online solicitation of a minor.

According to an affidavit, Patrol Sgt. Weston Jordan was arrested following a joint investigation between the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division that began on March 13.

The probe began with investigators creating an online profile posing as a 16-year-old male. They used the profile to respond to a Craigslist post in which the text read "looking for a needy twink." Twink is slang for a young man in his late teens or earlier 20s.

The undercover agent responded to the post stating he was a 16-year-old white male from Hurst. According to the arrest warrant, Jordan then made plans to meet the teen to engage in sexual acts. He was arrested as he allegedly went to meet the teen and later booked into the Tarrant County Jail on the second-degree felony charge.

“I am shocked and ashamed by the arrest of one of our own for such a horrible crime," said Sheriff Tracy Murphree in a statement released Wednesday afternoon. "Criminal actions by those sworn to serve and protect will not be tolerated. He has brought dishonor to his profession and to this office. He has been terminated and we are cooperating fully with the Investigation. I am thankful that Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn and his Office and DPS conducted this investigation and was able to get a predator off the street."
