A man driving the wrong way on the Dallas North Tollway collided with two vehicles early Saturday, killing a female passenger in one of them, authorities said.
A Dallas police officer noticed a Honda Accord driving north in the southbound lanes of the tollway about 1 a.m. Saturday, said Trooper Lonny Haschel of the Texas Department of Public Safety. The Honda, driven by James Giraldo, 26, of Dallas continued north until near Walnut Hill Lane, where it slammed into a Lexus sedan, Trooper Haschel said.
Mr. Giraldo's car then collided with a Chevrolet pickup, he said.
The driver of the Lexus, Rueben Siguenza, 32, of Dallas was uninjured, but his passenger, Juliana Rincon-Cuartas, 27, of Dallas was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where she later died.
The driver of the pickup, Emrah Celik, 21, of Dallas was treated at the scene and released, Trooper Haschel said.
Paramedics took Mr. Giraldo to Parkland, where he was in stable condition Saturday morning.
Authorities were still investigating the crash and talking to witnesses Saturday morning, and no charges had been filed, Trooper Haschel said.
