The pilot of a small aircraft was killed Wednesday morning when the plane crashed at the Phillips Flying Ranch Airport, located about 15 miles southeast of Rockwall.
The crumpled,single-engine plane was upside-down on the grassy landing strip when emergency workers arrived. There was no evidence of fire.
Texas Department of Public Safety officials have secured the area of the crash and Federal Aviation Administration investigators are on the scene.
Only one person was on the plane.
The crash was reported around 11:30 a.m.
