A five-hour standoff sparked by reports of shots fired outside a south Arlington apartment complex ended peacefully early Sunday morning, police said.

Officers were called to the Fielders Glen Apartments in the 3500 block of Glen Field Court, west of South Cooper Street, about 3:30 a.m., said Lt. Blake Miller, an Arlington police spokesman. They were told a man fired several rounds from what appeared to be a shotgun before going inside an apartment and firing another shot, Lt. Miller said.

The police tactical unit responded, and at about 8:55 a.m., the man and a woman left the apartment and were taken into custody, police said.

Sean Matthew Pulson, 19, was arrested on a deadly conduct charge. He was being held Sunday at the Arlington city jail in lieu of $750 bail, according to jail records.

The 17-year-old woman's name was not released.
